Yesterday, August 19, 2021, Elena successfully defended her dissertation entitled: “From the fire that burns in me: Afro-Latin American performance, literature and cinema produced by Afro-descendant women in Peru, Cuba, and Brazil (1960-2000.)” The LAILAC examination committee was made up of professors Silvia Dapía, Carlos Riobó, and Paul Smith.
